The beauty of serenity, sensuality pushed to its limits
The Mariantònia Oliver dance company was formed in Barcelona in 1989 and has been based in Mallorca since the year 2000. After creating 15 shows, Las Muchas premiered in 2012, a performance that started a line of investigation working with bodies that didn’t come from the world of dance. This show, led by women aged between 70 and 87 years old from Maria de la Salut, toured for a long time and visited various cities such as Bristol, Ljubljana, Madrid, A Coruña, Seoul, Barcelona, Valladolid and Bilbao. An important part of the process was exchange between women. Based on this experience, the Teatre Principal, along with Mariantònia Oliver, wanted to create a show dedicated to all of them, Las Muchísimas. Seventeen women aged between 61 and 75 from various nationalities, who with daring and dedication have embarked on a theatre project based on collaboration. A theatrical experiment, a shock, a bold exploration of their own bodies, their habits, joys and sorrows, vices, caresses, of love, scars… and of happiness.
A production by the Teatre Principal de Palma with the collaboration of EiMA Creació, PTL Dance Theater Ljubljana and L’Animal a l’esquena.
